Get a taste of Cape Town culture at the Fort Food Truck Market happening every Friday, where you can sample street-style food from various local vendors. There are Halaal-friendly and vegan options available as well as desserts, a fully stocked bar and more. Grab your friends and bring them along for a game of beer pong, or a guided tour of the historic Fort Wynyard where the cosy market will be held. For entertainment, there will be a selection of eclectic live music on a stage.
DELICIOUS FOODS FROM LOCAL VENDORS
Try tasty South African classics such as biltong, boerewors rolls, and braai food. Or, grab fish and chips, curries and gourmet burgers, or a range of mexican food. There are also halaal-friendly and vegan options as well as decadent desserts. Grab drinks at the fully-stocked bar, and join in on a game of beer pong. There are also non-alcoholic options available such as coffee and soft drinks for the kids and teetotallers in the family
GO ON A TOUR OF THE HISTORIC FORT WYNYARD
Fort Wynyard is a military base and artillery garrison dating back as far as the 1700s. You can join a guided tour of the fascinating maze of tunnels and bunkers, and admire the impressive artillery pieces. The venue is pet-friendly, so bring your pooch on a leash, fill up on snacks and tour the military base, a relic of a bygone age.
ENJOY LIVE MUSIC WHILE YOU EAT
Fort Wynyard has a stage area which has hosted numerous local bands in the past such as the Jimm Harrison Project and ShenFM. Sit down and relax while you eat and appreciate Cape Town’s eclectic music scene.
ARRIVE EARLY TO AVOID DISAPPOINTMENT
Due to the strict Covid-19 safety regulations in place, a limited number of people will be let in at a time, so arrive early to secure your spot. Social distancing will be enforced and face masks are compulsory. There is no entrance fee, and all ages (dogs included) are welcome. For more information, check out the Fort Food Truck website.
