Hiking, biking, canopy tours and luxury glamping just 50 minutes outside of Cape Town

GO CHERRY GLAMPING WITH YOUR TEAM
Beautifully situated in the photogenic Elgin Valley near Grabouw, is Richard and his wife Magriet’s Cherry Glamping camp. It borders the Paul Cluver estate – right on the famous Absa Cape Epic mountain bike route. Twelve luxury bell tents equipped with every comfort imaginable sit under the shade of pines on a secluded plot of land at the foot of the Hottentots Holland mountains.

There’s a cosy wooden indoor lounge with a fireplace, a large family table for strategy sessions, and a massive events space with an outdoor braai and lanterns strung along wooden walkways between the glamping tents and hammocks.

LOW-TECH TEAM GETAWAYS NEAR CAPE TOWN
Less than an hour outside of Cape Town, Cherry Glamping is the ideal place for quick, low-tech (no Wi-Fi and plug points) midweek team getaways. They cater for teams of up to 200.

“Imagine your team meets here at the Cherry Glamping camp early on a Wednesday morning,” Richard says. “Have some coffee and get everyone sorted before heading out on a team-building adventure.”

Richard and Magriet help organise nearly any style of activity in the valley: From hiking and biking the Green Mountain Trail and nearby farms, including mountain biking at Oak Valley and Wildekrans or neighbouring Paul Cluver, to bird watching on the Overberg birding route.

There are apple and wine farm tours, Segway tours and even adventure canopy tours, as well as restaurants and the famous Elgin Railway Market for team outings.

“Then, you come back here in the afternoon for your team strategy sessions. We light the fireplace, and your team has the camp all to themselves before we fire up the pit and get a braai going with beers, wine and bonding around the fire,” Richard says.

“Your team stays over in our luxury camp, with everything their hearts can desire. We prep a good breakfast with coffee and tea on the viewdeck the next morning, after a nice hot shower, and your team’s ready to get back into the office on Thursday – because you’re just 50 minutes away from Cape Town.”
