GRAB 1 OF THE BEST 2-FOR-1 DEALS OF 2022

Sotano has been serving this 50% off deal for years because it’s so popular, and it is so popular because it’s that good. The patty is made in Sotano’s kitchen and it’s served between two soft buns (as proper burgers should be). Then what’s added is Mediterranean flair: a zesty tzatziki, hummus and avocado. Crispy onion rings add an addictive layer of crunch.

YOU CAN SEE THE SEA FROM THERE 

Sotano is an easy kind of restaurant, where the staff will quickly get to know your name and order. It bends over backwards for its locals, whom Sotano sees as its family. Besides this, there’s lots more to love about it: It has one of the best wine menus on the Sea Point prom, and offers an excellent price for its house wine; it has a very good Mediterranean-influenced menu, with lots of plates to share. Then there’s the sea view, which is especially enjoyable on Sundays when you look at it with live reggae tunes from the Rivertones.

THE MENU IS VARIED + DOGS ARE WELCOME  

The menu has just had a tweak, but Sotano is all about consistency and regulars’ favourites. It’s not hard to find a favourite, either. These are all the things we’ve been sold on: The chicken liver paté, served with a tomato-and-anchovy chutney; the Spanish paella; the seafood linguine; a legendary steak tartare; and, naturally, the Greek-style lamb burger.
