Netflix and chill & office lunch are better with Bamboo takeouts
From mushroom burgers and loaded fries to “sticky wings”
Last updated: 10 November 2023
Bamboo Plant Power is reimagining fast food: It’s fresh, nutritious and quick (and happens to be plant-based). Whether it’s loaded fries and pulled mushroom burgers for movie nights or nourishing bowls for office lunches, you’ll find food that is good for you (and the planet) at this city take-out spot.

TAKEOUT THAT’S HEALTHY FOR YOU
Bamboo’s mission is to help people eat better and help the environment. Afterall, it’s common knowledge by now that incorporating more plant-based food into your diet (like fruit, veg, legumes and whole grains) can improve heart and kidney health, cancer risk and more.
This is why all the food at Bamboo is free of cholesterol, refined sugars, added preservatives and artificial flavours and soy-based meat alternatives. Many of the menu items are gluten-free (or have gluten-free swaps) and everything is air-fried, not deep-fried.

ORDER TO YOUR COUCH, OFFICE, BOARDROOM
Bamboo is on Uber Eats and Mr Delivery, and by upping the nutrition with veggies and healthy fats, their classic comfort food is more balanced and satiating than your typical takeout delivery.
There’s the loaded fries (air-fried sweet potato chips topped with mushrooms and a “cheese” sauce), pulled mushroom burger (in a smoky BBQ sauce, mimicking pulled pork) or sticky cauli wings for movie nights on the couch.
The loaded fries are just as cheesy and moreish as the original, but more satiating. Image: Bamboo Plant Power
For lunch at your desk, there’s lighter choices like the popular cauli tempura bowl with sweet sticky cauli nuggets, black rice, edamame, pineapple, nuac cham dressing and miso mayo. Or you could order a spread for meetings or late team nights at the office.

THEY DO SIT-DOWNS TOO
You’ll find Bamboo on the corner of Long and Riebeek Street, where they offer sit-downs.
The eatery is small and cosy, with informative signs about the environmental impact of plant-based eating on every table (Did you know that following a fully plant-based diet for one year can save up to 1.5 million litres of water and over 1 000m² of forest?)
The space is nicely-lit with high ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows and a wooden deck that looks over the busy streets of the CBD. Read more about healthy takeouts (or sit ins) at Bamboo Plant Power.
