The five-star Palm House Boutique Hotel holds so much behind its secluded entrance. Its Açaí Spa & Wellness Oasis is a one of a kind in Cape Town’s southern suburbs and features a Banya Sauna, a traditional barrel-shaped sauna of Nordic pine, and some of the most sublime treatments. Like the signature Palm Journey, which includes a two-hour treatment, two hours at the wellness oasis and a three-course lunch at the Palm Terrace.
Palm House, once a 1920s grand home designed by a protégé of Sir Herbert Baker, has recently been reimagined as a small luxury hotel.
The Açaí Spa, with its wellness oasis (a Banya Sauna, jacuzzi and outdoor shower), is adjacent to the stately manor, with its perfectly manicured gardens, namesake palm trees and heated pool.

For massages, there’s options like a CBD-infused massage to reduce inflammation and tension, or aromatherapy (with heated rose quartz and aromatherapeutic oils). Bellabaci cupping can be added too, which increases blood flow and releases muscle tension.
There’s plenty to choose from, like a deep cleansing facial (using Jade stone and pinotage vinotherapy) or a vitamin C facial (with microfoliant enzyme clay, rosehip and vitamin C to exfoliate and renew tired skin).
The Açaí Spa also offers a luxury manicure and pedicure studio.
Treatments start from R600. Image: Palm House Boutique Hotel and Spa
The signature Palm Journey is the utmost spoil. It includes a two-hour treatment of choice, two hours at the wellness oasis and a three-course lunch at Palm Terrace.
Another popular treatment is the Rose Geranium Heated Poultice Ceremony (intended to relieve fatigue and anxiety), which includes a dry brushing and full body massage. It culminates with an Açaí Tea and snacks served at the Palm Terrace.
The African Earth Goddess Ceremony, which includes a massage with heated rose quartz and an antioxidant facial, ends with a glass of pinotage at the Palm Terrace or poolside.

After relaxing at the Açaí Spa & Wellness Oasis, a lunch or early dinner is idyllic.
Palm House has two restaurants, both run by illustrious chef Gregory Henderson. Known as The Forage Chef, he’s committed to preserving wild produce and the heritage of indigenous ingredients.
De Tafel’s six-course dining experience, available exclusively in the evenings, offers a sophisticated and thought-provoking menu. It includes dishes such as sustainably-caught kingklip and chilli ginger Knysna river crab in a velvety Cape Malay sauce.
Palm Terrace offers a more casual, brasserie-style all-day menu. From light soufflé omelettes in the morning to a selection of small plates served between noon and 5pm, there is something on offer to please all palettes (including plant-based dishes).
The suites are also the epitome of luxury. Read more about stays at Palm House Boutique Hotel and Spa.
