Best day ever? Monster Mountain Scooters in Stellenbosch

Scootours Banhoek has scooters, vine bikes and archery

Last updated: 23 January 2024

Monster Mountain Scooters, purpose-built tracks, archery, vine bike tours and mountain biking trails. All surrounded by mountain ranges and wine farms. Scootours is a thrilling way to spend the day in nature with friends, family or coworkers; and it now takes walk-ins at its newest location in Stellenbosch.

EXHILARATING ADVENTURE ROUTES

Scootours is one of the most exciting outdoor adventures and team-building experiences in the Western Cape. Riders freewheel on outdoor tracks using Monster Mountain Scooters which are non-electric (making them eco-friendly) and easy to steer.

There are over nine locations to choose from, including the winelands and Cape Town. You can race through a bush tunnel at Middelvlei; scoot with great views of the Hottentots Holland Mountain in Franschhoek; or take on off-road tracks in the city, from Signal Hill to the colourful Bo-Kaap, or down Table Mountain.

FREEWHEEL THROUGH STELLENBOSCH VINEYARDS

Banhoek, Scootours’s newest location in the Stellenbosch countryside, has an action-packed flow trail. It cascades down the farm, through vineyards and over small wooden bridges, all while overlooking the Groot Drakenstein Mountains and Simonsberg Mountain.

The hour-long experience kicks off with a few practice runs, and gives kids a safety briefing beforehand. The trail has been carefully created to make the experience both safe and fun (even grandpa can do it). All riders get helmets beforehand.

Although walk-ins are allowed at Banhoek, booking for a larger group is recommended.

ARCHERY AND VINE BIKES, TOO

A very special offering at Scootours Banhoek is the vine bike experience, where riders visit surrounding wine farms (from big names like Boschendal and Tokara to boutique farms like Bartinney and Rainbow’s End). There’s a half day and full day tour, or you can rent the bikes and go on a solo trip.

There’s also an hour-long archery experience with traditional bows, as well as epic mountain biking routes on the farm. You can amp up the downhill (and uphill) experience by renting a full suspension e-bike (an electronic mountain bike designed for smooth riding on rough terrain).

TEAM-BUILDING & BIRTHDAYS FOR BIG GROUPS

Team-building or corporate sessions of up to 75 people get to experience most of the activities at Banhoek. The group gets split into three teams, jumping from Scootours to archery to lawn games. The whole experience is around three and a half hours. Smaller groups can curate their own experience.

Scootours’s Franschoek location, Chamonix Wine Farm, also offers team-building experiences. Or you can book an experience at Middelvlei in Stellenbosch. Plus, you can extend your visit at Scootours Middelvlei with a braai lunch

BOOK A SCOOTOURS EXPERIENCE

All riders must be at least 1.1 metres tall and weigh less than 120kg. Kids between the age of four and nine join an adult as a passenger on the scooters. Discover five more freewheeling routes you can book through Scootours

Note: You don’t have to be fit and no experience is required; your guide will show you everything you need to know. Remember to wear closed shoes and take a warm jacket. Find more important information and booking link on scootours.co.za
