This new restaurant in the CBD evokes feelings of a laidback Italian summer. There’s limoncello cosmopolitans, tiramisu martinis, and unconventional eats like bite-sized lasagne crocchetta. And if that’s not enough, there’s a buzzy rooftop bar upstairs.
Filini is on the bottom floor of the recently-revamped Radisson Cape Town Foreshore, just across from the Adderley Street Fountain.
Modern pop art of the Italian coastline, lemons and grapefruits, Bialetti coffee pots, and bruschetta bring a feel of laidback Italian summer; especially when you laze in the afternoon sun that streams in through the floor-to-ceiling windows, an Aperol spritz in hand.

Any good Italian restaurant will have pizza and pasta, of course. The hake puttanesca pasta (tomato pasta with clams, cannellini beans, olives and capers) will take you right to a café on the Amalfi coastline.
Filini also has plenty of menu items that you wouldn’t find at your ordinary neighbourhood Italian eatery: Lasagne crocchetta (bite-sized pieces of lasagne in a crispy crumb), chicken milanese (crumbed chicken fillet with herby capers and lemon-dressed rocket), and triple chocolate tiramisu with raspberry ice cream.

The cocktail menu is truly something different, with Italian spins on classic drinks. There’s options like a limoncello cosmopolitan, Italian margarita (made with Disaronno, an almond amaretto liqueur) and tiramisu martini (Jose Cuervo bianco, Nachtmusik, crème de cassis and espresso).
If you’d prefer wine with your pasta (the ultimate combo), then you’ll appreciate that a glass starts from R75.
There’s also classic Italian cocktails like a negroni or Aperol spritz. Image: Radisson Cape Town Foreshore
Radisson Cape Town Foreshore’s rooftop bar and terrace, Harald’s, is just upstairs for after-dinner drinks. It’s super buzzy in the evenings (there’s often a DJ) and you can watch the city come alive as people move to and from bars and restaurants in the CBD.
And during the day there’s the epic view of Table Mountain. Find more reasons to visit Harald’s Bar & Terrace.
