Every weekend, Strolla Restaurant & Bar hosts two free live music sessions: On Fridays there’s a sunset DJ set and on Saturday you can listen to live reggae. Locals love Strolla too because the food is hella good, there’s a kids’ playroom with a minder, dogs are allowed, and did we mention the sunset deck’s views?

Start the weekend with a glass of wine, a splendid view and a bit of a boogie on Friday, from 5pm to 8pm. Some of Cape Town’s finest DJs play chilled house music on the sunset deck. It’s the perfect spot to wind down the work week. The deck is newly renovated, and from there you can see amazing views of the sea through palm trees, and can order daiquiris, gin cocktails and other drinks, and share pizzas, nachos and other snacks.
The menu has lots of bites and snacks, perfect for sharing over drinks. Image: Strolla
There are four spaces at Strolla where you can have a fabulous late lunch or drinks – the sunset deck, the bar, the restaurant and the pool area – and from 3pm to 6pm on Saturdays you can also listen to Cape Town’s most popular reggae bands, including the Rivertones. The vibe is family friendly and familiar, and the dress code is relaxed.
The band is set up next to the pool, where you can also have sushi and cocktails. Image: Strolla
Strolla is part of The Peninsula Hotel, and there’s a kids’ playroom there with all sorts of fantastic entertainment, from an Xbox through to games and movies. There’s also a child minder, so parents can relax and not worry that the kids are bored. And did you know that you can also bring your dogs along? Here’s the full menu of what Strolla offers.
You can relax with a drink while your children enjoy craft activities, like making their own pizzas. Image: Strolla
