There are many good reasons to visit Strolla in Sea Point – the views, the sunset deck, the good food, the fact that it has an impressive kids playroom with a minder – but on Wednesdays, there’s one particular drawcard: It serves a half chicken, with two sauces, sides of buttered corn and wedges – all for R95. And it does so all day long.
The chicken special is a real winner for the hungry (or those who just love food). Image: Strolla
This is really a spectacular deal for a filling meal. The rotisserie chicken is served with a choice of two sauces – peri-peri and lemon butter – and the mieles and potato wedges will leave you feeling satisfied. But one of the best things about this spot is its accessibility: You can literally step off the MyCity bus and a few steps and you’re in Strolla.
Another big advantage: Strolla is almost always able to find a space for you. Image: Strolla
You can eat this on the newly revamped Heineken Deck. Known by all as the sunset deck, because it has one of the most incredible sea views in all of Sea Point, it’s also protected from the wind thanks to the Peninsula Hotel. If you prefer indoors, you’ll love Strolla’s comfortable and cosy glamour inside, where there’s also a fireplace.
Strolla has a varied menu – as the owner Brandon Crew says, they aimed to make this feel-good restaurant, with four separate spaces that all flow into another, a place that people can make their regular stop-in. And so you will find all sorts of dishes from around the world, from the ever popular pizza to nachos and burgers.
These nachos are to die for, the perfect partner to a glass of wine. Image: Strolla
The entire family is welcome here, even the dogs – and there is much on offer for kids in particular. Let’s start with the pizza that they can make all by themselves, rolling out the dough and choosing the toppings. Then it will be baked and served at the table. Then there is the dedicated playroom with loads and loads of games and a childminder, so parents can relax.

Strolla’s half-price chicken is available: Every Wednesday, 12pm to 11pm
Strolla is open: Monday to Sundays, 7am to 11pm
