Reasons to have lunch at mischu

Where else in Sea Point can you have lunch for under R100?

Last updated: 29 August 2024

Yes, mischu is where coffee lovers gather for a daily dose of the city’s best brew (literally: It’s won Best Coffee in Cape Town three years in a row). But did you know they make great lunches too, like the daily R99 special? Here’s 5 reasons you should lunch at mischu.

1. CAPE TOWN’S BEST COFFEE, LITERALLY

The star of the show at mischu is the Isabella blend, made from 100% Arabica beans from Brazil, Guatemala, and Costa Rica.

This coffee has been crowned the best in Cape Town not once, but three years in a row. With a smooth, mild acidity and an aftertaste of dark chocolate and roasted hazelnuts, it’s taken home titles like Best Cappuccino in South Africa and the Best Espresso in Cape Town.

2. DAILY LUNCH SPECIAL

Where else in Sea Point can you have lunch for under R100? The R99 daily deal at mischu includes a perfectly brewed cappuccino and eggs benedict. And you can order it up until 4.30pm.

The rest of the lunch menu is wholesome and nutritious. There’s options like the pulled beef toastie, mediterranean flatbread wrap with hummus and zaatar, and club sandwich.

3. EASY REMOTE WORKING SPOT

If you’re looking for somewhere to work remotely, with fast wifi and great coffee, you’ve found it. The large windows overlooking the busy Regent Road offer a great backdrop for people-watching during breaks.

Inside, the large wooden shelves displaying board games like wooden naughts and crosses and backgammon create a relaxed mood that makes working here a pleasure.

And you’re perfectly positioned to venture out to the promenade for a post-work walk (or Mojo Market for a drink).

4. MUST-TRY VIRAL “CROOKIE”

If you haven’t heard of the crookie yet, you’re in for a treat. This pastry, which has been blowing up on Instagram and TikTok, combines the flaky, buttery layers of a croissant with the sweet chewiness of a cookie.

It’s available on weekends daily from 7am to 3pm. There’s other classic café treats like carrot cake, pain au chocolat, and fresh croissants.

5. YOU CAN MAKE MISCHU COFFEE AT HOME

You can buy beans, ground coffee and pods, in four medium dark blends or single origins, in-store or online.

There’s also instant powders like spicy chai and rich hot chocolates. And for the home baristas, they have a range of coffee accessories to upgrade your brewing setup, like an aeropress, coffee tamper, and more.
