Team building, stylish conferencing & stay in the Elgin Grabouw Valley

Ultimate work-play-and-stay hub, Trail’s End

Last updated: Tuesday, 27 August 2024

Africa’s first bike hotel is the ultimate play-and-stay hub for your team, whether small, large or remote (and packages start from R390 per day, per person). The conference centre is kitted out for strategy and brainstorming sessions and group presentations. And afterwards, your team can zip around on quad bikes, try out various fitness classes or take leisurely strolls on the hiking trails, and more.

CONFERENCE VENUE FOR BIG OR SMALL TEAMS

Not only is Trail’s End Africa’s first bike hotel, it also has a cosy restaurant, endless activities, and a top-notch conference space.

The Cecil Nurse Conference Centre can be set up in any style you prefer. It can seat up to 80 people cinema-style, ideal for start of year strategy presentations, or 50 classroom-style for debates and brainstorms. If you have presentations, there’s a state of the art screen and great sound system.

Fresh snacks like scones, croissants and muffins come standard with the coffee and tea stations.

COMPANY RETREAT IN THE ELGIN GRABOUW VALLEY

When you’re taking breaks between meetings, you can relax in the library nook or stretch your legs on one of the scenic walking trails, surrounded by mountains, vineyards and orchards.

The hearty meals from the restaurant are a treat. The menu has options like a homemade chunky beef burger with caramelised onions, hake with garlic butter, seasonal veg and potato wedges and more (all included in the deluxe half-day and full-day packages).

The restaurant has a light timber interior and brick fireplaces to keep it warm and welcoming, especially on a cold day.

Trail’s End also houses the continent’s first bicycle museum. Image: Trail’s End

QUAD BIKING, HIKING, TRAIL RUNNING & MORE

The team can connect and unwind too with hiking, mountain biking and trail running (after all, Trail’s End is a trailhead for the Elgin Valley Trails). There are routes for all levels of cycling – from 10km to 100km, and bicycles can be hired from the hotel (advanced booking essential).

There are awesome 4x4 trails and quad bike tours through the fynbos and over bridges in the forest. If your team isn’t so confident on a quad bike, not to worry, the guides are super helpful!

You can also start your morning with a fitness class, yoga, pilates or swimming and afterwards be pampered by the in-house masseuse.

ACCOMMODATION FOR UP TO 64 PEOPLE

After a long day of strategy and brainstorming (and some outdoor activities), it would be wise to stay over and relax in front of the fireplace with a good book and a glass of red wine.

Each of the 16 guest rooms are cosy and rustic. There are eight private rooms with en-suite bathrooms and eight dorm-style rooms (with separate shared bathrooms).

Experience a unique and unforgettable mountain bike ride through the Elgin Valley to the Railway Market, Oak Valley and Paul Cluver Wine Estates and more; all the more reason to visit Trail’s End.

Buffet breakfasts are included in the room rate, or add on a warm breakfast from the Trail’s End restaurant. Image: Trail’s End
