Just next to the yellow frame on the Hermanus Waterfront sits a small bistro that does breakfast very differently. At Pear Tree, you’ll find egg and kimchi tacos, breakfast poké bowls and falafel toast instead of the usual fry-ups, all served with ocean views. And if you stay a little longer, you can explore the rest of their unexpected small plates.

BREAKFAST AT PEAR TREE

With soft lighting, earthy tones, and light blue bistro tables all facing the sea, breakfast at Pear Tree comes with unbeatable ocean views.

The menu here is creative and light, with options like a breakfast poké style bowl served with a soft poached egg, crispy onion and chipotle chicken or pulled lamb. Or opt for a vegetarian brekkie with the falafel toast, layered with hummus, crushed avocado and chimichurri, or the scrambled egg and kimchi tacos.

The light meals are well paired with Pear Tree’s fresh juices and immune booster shots (orange, lemon, ginger, and turmeric), leaving you feeling energised, not heavy.

KIDS MENU WITH WHACKY MILKSHAKES

While parents can appreciate the creative plates, the kids' menu has the tried-and-tested favourites (think burgers and fish and chips), alongside wacky milkshakes like triple chocolate cupcake and strawberry Steri Stumpi. 

The kids' menu is made of paper and filled with cute activities like a word search, connect the dots, and a colouring picture.

SMALL PLATES BY THE SEA

If you want to explore the rest of Pear Tree’s menu beyond breakfast, there are exciting small plates. Some of the most popular are the sushi calamari (Patagonian calamari tubes stuffed with sushi rice, salmon, sesame seeds, and nori) and the root veg gnocchi (carrot pureé, goat cheese, basil, root vegetables and crispy onion).
