Mavericks turns 20 and celebrates in style

This season ONLY, on Friday and Saturday nights, you can get treated to a one-of-a-kind Burlesque Xtravaganza at Mavericks. Get there early or reserve your seat to catch the shows, featuring stunning Mavericks dancers, swinging 20s music and, of course, a giant birthday cake...allow us to explain.

GET INTO A STEAMY 1920S SPEAKEASY

Cape Town’s glamorous gentlemen’s club Mavericks is celebrating its birthday in style. .

Looking good as ever, on three levels, and with scores professional dancers it always has something up its sleeve, always something new for you to experience. You’ll know something special is about to happen when the live DJ pauses the music and plays a jazzy, saucy swinging '20s soundtrack. A giant cake is wheeled out into the middle of the main lounge, with spotlights on the centrepiece as the rest of the club goes dark. 

KEEP YOUR EYES ON GRACEFUL DANCERS 

Suddenly, a stunning dancer in classic red lingerie emerges from the cake, and, with impressive agility, extracts herself from the confectionery. 

With unmatched poise and grace, the dancer picks up two giant fans made from ostrich feathers dyed velvet red. Burlesque is principally the art of teasing the audience in stages, and the dancer has everyone in the house focused on her every move. 

Of course we’re not revealing everything. 

SEE THE ART OF VANISHING LACE LINGERIE

Over the next while the spotlights lingers on the dancer around the room as the music builds to a crescendo. For the finale, she disappears behind the feathers in her hands, and somehow she makes her lacey lingerie vanish and then re-emerges to an enthusiastic round of applause.

STAY FOR THE PARTY AFTER THE SHOW 

It's burlesque like no other in the city, made all the more enjoyable by the premium venue, excellent service, freshly made food and electric vibe. Book in advance so you can take maximum advantage of the club and the entertainment till curfew.

Basic entrance to the stripclub is R100; VIP is an extra R300. Dance prices are R300 for a two songs table dance, R300 for a lap dance, and R750 for a VIP dance.
