Franschhoek’s top wine farms are putting their best wine forward for the annual 2020 Franschhoek Uncorked Festival. Get ready for a two-day sip-and-swirl-fiesta of fruity chenin blancs, full-bodied merlots and of course some bubbly while soaking up breathtaking Franschhoek Wine Valley views.

A DAY OF WINE-FARM HOPPING

There are a host of wine farms ready for you to visit. To conquer all these premier wine destinations, you'll have to farm hop. But, It's all up to you which farm you'd like to see first. Start at the base of the valley and sip on Plaisir de Merle's famed chardonnay. From there, you can work your way up towards the Franschhoek mountains and end off with Holden Manz's newly released vintages and award-winning wines.

THERE’S SOMETHING SPECIAL AT EACH SPOT

Each wine farm has come fully prepared to showcase this season's newly released wines. Boshchendal's chardonnay/ pinot noir will be on full show along with The Rickety Bridge's two latest vintages - the Foundation Stone Rosé 2020 & Rickety Bridge Methode Cap Classique 2017. Chardonnay-lovers, you may want to start at GlenWood Vineyards. Over there, they're showcasing not one but three styles of chardonnay. To make it even more interesting, they're pairing the wine with top-quality sushi from their tasting room. There are loads more wine gems like this to discover. Before you head out, plan your day using the festival programme.

FRESH FOOD MARKETS AND LIVE MUSIC

While you sip on your wine, fill up on a delicious brunch, lunch or a wine pairing snack. Lynx Wine Estate has a range of Southern-style dishes served straight from the grill: think sticky wings with barbeque sauce. You could even settle in for brunch at Topiary Wines or tuck into a gourmet platter at Paserene Winery. Plus, you'll be able to relax to a new band at every wine farm you visit.
