Sip on gin cocktails and free tequila this girls night at Fancy Franks

Fancy Franks may be a barbeque place, but it’s also the perfect spot to sip gin cocktails and free tequilas on ladies night. With grey walls, dark wood and eclectic decor, this bar is still a bit of a local secret, but it’s well worth discovering.

A SECRET HANG-OUT SPOT IN SUNSET BEACH

Fancy Frank’s looks unassuming from the outside. Located in Ocean Square shopping centre, it’s surrounded by pharmacies and grocery stores. A short climb up the stairs reveals a bustling restaurant and large bar that feels like a slice of Kloof Street at the beach. The bar is surrounded by comfy leather couches and an outdoor patio overlooking the sea.

There’s also an enclosed section decorated with bookshelves, and a different eclectic ornament everywhere you look. The space feels fun and classy.

SIP ON GIN COCKTAILS FOR R40 

Every Thursday, Fancy Franks hosts Ladies Night. Between 6pm and 8pm, get a free tequila shot on entry, plus two gin cocktails for R40. If you’re in the mood for a few drinks, then you’re in luck: happy hour only ends at 7pm, which means that there are 2-for-1 specials on their house wines, mojitos and cosmopolitans. Be prepared for dark moody lighting and pumping music - sometimes there’s also a live DJ.

BRING A FRIEND (OR PARTNER)

There’s something for the guys on ladies nights too. Fancy Franks’ 2-for-1 special on Franks Fix, their in-house lager, happens every day from 4pm to 7pm. For those who don’t drink, you can be assured that Fancy Franks uses ethically sourced and dry aged steaks. Their choice of steaks, burgers, pizzas and tacos is enough of a reason to visit (even for your vegan friend!). Make sure to book as they get very busy.
