MORE ON THE GUESTS OF HONOUR
The Giggling Gourmet
Jenny Morris is one of South Africa’s most-loved food personalities. The celebrity chef has TV shows in 143 countries and is also an author, magazine writer and radio and TV presenter, among other things.
She’s had a passion for food since she was a child and believes that the way you eat your food can reveal a lot about you, like what kind of lover you are. “You don’t want someone who eats a sosatie with a knife and fork,” says Morris with the naughty laugh that has earned her the nickname of Giggling Gourmet.
SA Award-winning Filmmaker
Uga Carlini, the founder of Towerkop Creations and multi-award-winning filmmaker, has been driving female empowerment in every aspect of her career. She directed the award-winning hybrid documentary Alison the Movie, which made history as the first South African film to trend on Amazon Prime globally.
Carlini also won best screenplay in the Writer’s Guild of South Africa Muse Awards, as well as best documentary of the African continent at the AMVCA Awards in 2017. She was crowned one of eight female filmmakers of the year in the World of Women’s Cinema at the WOW Middle East Film Festival in 2018.
HOST AND MC, LIVING LIFE WITH PURPOSE
The evening’s MC will be Xtraordinary Women’s CEO, Gwen Serroti, who resigned from her corporate job, after 19 successful years, to pursue her dreams of becoming an entrepreneur and living out her purpose.
Having spent almost a decade at ABSA Bank, before leaving to obtain her IT certification, working another eight years in the IT field - Serroti understands the challenges women face when trying to maintain a balanced lifestyle while finding their purpose and starting a business.
This is why Gwen created Xtraordinary Women: to create a platform and community for extraordinary women doing extraordinary things.
