Kids party Fridays at Scootours at Middelvlei Wine Estate

Kids and friends race on Monster Mountain Scooters

Celebrate your kids’ birthday with an exhilarating downhill descent at Middelvlei Wine Farm, where your kids, friends and family get to challenge each other as they zoot down mountain slopes and through the vineyard on non electric gravity scooters, eco-friendly Monster Mountain Scooters. Afterwards, the kids can enjoy a boerie roll and a cool drink (and wine for the adults).

FREEWHEEL THROUGH PICTURESQUE VIEWS

The Scootours Flow Trail is 850 metres of pure, dirt-road adrenaline, with 360-degree views of the Simonsig, Stellenbosch and Jonkeshoek mountain ranges, even Table Mountain on a clear day.

The non-motorised Monster Mountain Scooters are easy to steer and stable with thick off-road tyres. Kids older than 10 can drive their own, giving them some freedom on the slopes, while children between 4 and 9 must ride as a passenger with an adult.

Everyone gets to race from the highest point of the Flow Trail, Caveman Cruz. Skid through its winding corners, over the bumpy rollers on the Dragon’s Back and under the canopy of trees inside the bush tunnel. Then, start at the top again for the second run. The experience takes a party of 8 and 24 friends.

CELEBRATE ON THE EXHILARATING FLOW TRAIL

All tours are led by a qualified professional guide who is always present. Riders are issued with helmets and cycling gloves, and guides give kids a safety briefing beforehand. You’ll be able to test out the Scooters first before being shuttled to the top of the hill to do two downhill runs of the Scootours Flow Trail.

FINISH OFF WITH DRINKS AND A BOERIE ROLL

After an exhilarating and windswept ride, there’s complimentary juice for the kids and a glass of wine for the adults. If you add R30 per person to the cost of the experience, you can have a boerewors roll and chips afterwards. Plus, there’s a free online invitation included in the kids birthday party package.

For those wanting to be closer to the city, Scootours Cape Town also runs a kids party special on Table Mountain for R450 per person.

WHAT TO PACK FOR THE ADVENTURE

Come in closed shoes, comfortable clothing (they may get dirty), a windbreaker for the chill, and sunscreen. Helmets, gloves and water will be provided. Bring along a camera to capture the happy moments with your kids, unless you prefer to book their photographer, who follows along to take pictures, which will cost R100 and images emailed to you.

All safety gear is provided, all you need to do is enjoy the ride. Image: Scootours
