Believe it, because it’s true! Wine connoisseurs and budding vintners are in for a treat when the 2017 Robertson Hands-on Harvest festival barrels back onto the social calendar for a full weekend from Friday, 10 to Sunday, 12 March 2017.
Now only a weekend affair, this much-loved Winelands event debuted an extended 50-day version, but due to increased interest, they have decided to crop the event into one fun-filled, activity-packed weekend of wine, sunshine and smiles.
WHAT TO EXPECT AT THE 2017 ROBERTSON HANDS-ON HARVEST FESTIVAL
A FUN-FILLED EVENT: One of the most anticipated food and wine festivals in the Cape (alongside sister events like the Wacky Wine Weekend, Slow and Wine on the River), the fiesta boasts a programme of events that spans the entire valley as well as the towns of McGregor, Ashton and Bonnievale. The yearly vino-themed extravaganza has grown significantly in popularity since its inception, and today, it presents hundreds of wine aficionados and lovers of red and white with the chance to experience the journey from vine to table with an endless barrage of fun-filled entertainment.
A FOOT-ON EXPERIENCE: With more than 20 wineries, estates and other establishments taking part in the festival, the Hands-on Harvest programme spoils visitors with a wide variety of tailor-made activities to choose from. There’s everything from grape stomping and riverside lunches to vineyard tours and blending and tasting experiences. Not to mention, as a big plus, activity groups are kept small to ensure visitors get intimate practical lessons in the art of winemaking, sipping, sampling and more.
OUR RECOMMENDATION: Get the most out of this wine-infused event by starting at the very beginning. Browse the vineyards’ produce, pick your own grapes, sort your harvest and then stomp the fruits of your labour the old-fashioned way – with your feet! If getting down and dirty isn’t quite your cup of,’’wine’’, then why not meet one of the prestigious winemakers or simply go wine tasting and enjoy summer in the Robertson Wine Valley.
TICKETS FOR THE 2017 ROBERTSON HANDS-ON HARVEST FESTIVAL
Tickets must be booked with the respective host of the activity (i.e.; the winery, restaurant or lodge) at least three days prior to the start date, and prices vary according to the event (payment should be made in advance).
Remember, groups are kept small, so call now to avoid the disappointment of missing out.
