Once a house in Bo-Kaap, the restored Amina Boutique Hotel is filled to the brim with colour, vintage finds, antique furniture and special art. Instead of booking two or three hotel rooms, consider bringing your 10-guest wedding or bachelor/ette party, birthday bash besties or team building here, for a hotel experience that still feels like home.

Amina’s structure is estimated to be 160 years old. While the new owners do pay homage to the original space (they kept some of the antique furniture from the home), Amina has been fully revamped with five unique suites that will make art out of your wedding album.
Each room is painted a bright colour to match the eccentric houses of Bo-Kaap. Design company Royva, which creates unique and playful hospitality spaces, is behind its interior.
You can keep your bridal or grooms party in one spot (especially if you are having a destination wedding) at Amina, with its Victorian-style bath fittings, Charlotte Rhys products and infrared sauna.
Each room has something unique to admire - it’s difficult to choose just one. Image: Amina Boutique Hotel
Bachelor and bachelorette shindigs are getting more mature, and Amina fits the bill whether you want a raucous night out or stay-in.
It’s just a 10 minute walk from the inner city, so you can hit some of Cape Town’s trendiest bars, clubs and restaurant spots on Bree, Loop, Long and Buitengracht Street.
There’s also plenty to do here if you and the crew feel like a chilled getaway. Relax in the sauna, enjoy the pool and views of Table Mountain from a striped deck chair in the day. Plus, the cheery yellow kitchen is fully kitted out and all yours if you’d prefer to stay in for the night.

Thanks to Amina’s proximity to some of the city’s hottest art galleries and upmarket restaurants, it could also be the spot for an unforgettable birthday getaway.
Discerning trip planners will appreciate that the furniture in Amina is either vintage, bought secondhand or made specifically for the boutique hotel by local designers.
All of the art comes from the owner’s late grandfather’s personal collection, too. Moody landscapes, quirky abstract designs and flower sketches adorn the walls of Amina. Although large parties are not allowed, Amina is a special place to celebrate a birthday with a small group of friends.

Each suite comes with unique details: Room Three, with its luxurious walk-in Mediterranean shower, could be for the parents. Room Two has calming pistachio walls with a large window, beautifully framing the houses that creep up Table Mountain.
There are en-suite bathrooms, tea and coffee stations with a Nespresso machine, and smart TVs in each room.

Breakfast is freshly prepared daily by Shariefa Jamalie, one of Amina’s neighbours, and often includes Cape Malay treats (like a warm koesister or samoosa) that are a nod to the culinary culture of the neighbourhood.
Guests can also order meals from Shariefa - she makes a variety of authentic curries and breyanis.

Amina could also be a base for company excursions, like teambuilding and conferences, because it’s a short Uber ride from Cape Town’s corporate offices, business districts and conference venues.
