Cape Town’s secret and sultry nightclub

Hello Darling. There’s 3 ways to get in.. let us tell you how

Getting into Darling, Cape Town’s sexiest night club, is as thrilling as the space itself. You’re led behind the bar, past the fire escape and a glass sculpture. At the top of three short flights of stairs a none-descript door opens to a 2 metre Buffy Brave Art mural of a woman sitting spread eagle over the bar, who welcomes you inside.

“I've got my eye on you, Darling” her eyes say.

BRING YOUR CLOSE-KNIT CREW

Everyone has their eye on you at Darling. That's because the eclectic and electric crowd at this 250 square meter, double volume, loft-like club, with exposed brick walls, and jewel furniture, is dressed to impress. “It’s where you come with a close knit crew of the right people, and arrive looking the part,” says co-founder and long-standing nightlife icon (and DJ) Shaun Westwood.

This is a smart and vivacious set of men and women ready to indulge in style. Like Christina Carmela, the pilot and contestant from Netflix’s "Too Hot to Handle", who hosts her events here.

You’ll see some Kims, Khloes, Kylies and Lori Harveys here partying to disco, new disco and a mix of house music, played by seasoned DJs like Dino Moran, Sarah Bee, Dean Fuel, Mpumi “the Black Mamba”, Tanya Vee and hunky French DJ and model Willy Monfret (in Nicki Minaj’s music video “Right Thru Me”.

START AT ZSA ZSA AND MAKE YOUR WAY UP DARLING

Darling feels like you're partying in a New York club, especially when in the VIP area, closer to the large windows that make the club airy and balmy no matter how steamy the evening. “It’s a premium lounge club experience that’s not super busy,” says Shaun.

It’s made all the more classy because most of the revelers have been ushered up to Darling from the Zsa Zsa restaurant downstairs, where from early evening till now they’d been feasting on seafood platters (of crayfish, langoustines, mussels, fritto misto, prawns) and aglio olio pasta.

They are so ready to go, certainly aided from sipping on Picante and Mexican Chrtismas cocktails and champagne, and sharing Italian burrata, peri peri prawns prosciutto di parma in the 2-storey restaurant, with two bars on each floor and its own DJs.

Best way to get in the mood is to start with the food, music and party at the restaurant Image: Zsa Zsa
