Murder Mystery Dinner Parties Cape Town
Intrigue, secrecy and cold-blooded killings are the order of the day at these whodunnit dinners
Bepartofthemystery.com is the genius organisation behind the Mother City’s much-loved pastime: Murder Mystery Dinner Parties. Taking place at various restaurants in Cape Town from April to October 2016, these thrilling supper events invite lovers of crime novels and murderous tales to wine and dine while immersing themselves in a mysterious plot rich with treacherous characters.
HOW THE MURDER MYSTERY DINNER PARTIES IN CAPE TOWN WORK
One week before the scheduled dinner party night, participants are emailed a murder mystery pack that includes information about a storyline and the lowdown on the character they will be playing. More specifically, they receive details on aspects like personality traits and background as well as clues on how to dress for the part.
On the evening, there are eight suspects (the participants) at a table, usually four adopting male roles and four adopting female roles; as a result there is often a bit of cross-dressing involved – it just adds to the fun. The night gets started with welcome drinks before the murder victim is discovered. Clues accompany each dish of the three-course meal, and throughout the evening the detectives (normally referred to as hosts) facilitate the investigation and steer the case in the right direction so that justice is served with dessert.
